Compared to other major cancers, lung cancer advocacy is still in its early stages. Much of the work is done by patients and caregivers, with some larger organizations just starting to gain prominence.

Most Canadian lung cancer advocates are members of a private Facebook group called Canadian Lung Cancer Advocacy – Breathe Hope. Members share advocacy opportunities and campaigns as they arise. Breathe Hope also provides a support environment for lung cancer patients and caregivers, regardless of whether they participate in lung cancer advocacy.

Lung Cancer Canada has a number of advocacy and volunteer opportunities, from social media campaigns to peer support.

The White Ribbon Project is one of the main lung cancer awareness campaigns, started by a lung cancer patient and her husband in the U.S. It is a grassroots project where people build and distribute white Lung Cancer Awareness ribbons.
